Former Patient at Wichita CenterI had some very serious open wounds, and there were signs of infection. It was essential that I get immediate, professional care to prevent them from getting worse. And that’s exactly what I got at Wichita Center. The team was amazing, so kind and nice. But they were also gentle, dressing my wounds with such care. It was difficult: because of the pandemic, I couldn’t see my family, but the nurses and the assistants became like family to me. My wounds are almost completely closed now, and if anyone asks me about rehabbing at Wichita Center, I’d say “Go! They’ll make you feel better faster!” The staff there has the healing touch.

Resident at Wichita CenterI was very sick, and my condition had gotten steadily worse—so bad that I was finally admitted to the hospital. They finally got my condition under control, but being in the hospital, laid up in bed, I got progressively weaker. I could barely stand up. When it came near time for me to be discharged, my son went into action. He researched all the rehab facilities in or near Wichita, and toured them as well. The minute he walked into Wichita Center, he knew that it was the place for me—the friendly smiles, the sparkling clean rooms, and the high-tech rehab equipment sold him. And he was right on the mark! The therapy departments—physical and occupational—have been great. They’ve worked me hard, but never too hard, and that’s just what I needed. I love the staff and the residents here. My son says, “Mom, you’re getting stronger every day.” And I owe it all to the wonderful people at Wichita Center. Their strength has become mine.

Resident at Wichita CenterIt was the sickest I’ve ever been. I had a urinary tract infection. The pain was extreme, with cramping, nausea, vomiting and fever. I didn’t know what to do. Thankfully, the team at Topeka Center did. First thing, they made me feel comfortable, always answering when I called and supporting me at every turn. They were not only treating my illness, they were taking care of me. Thanks to the therapists, nurses—thanks to everyone at Topeka Center—I’m doing much better. The pain is gone, and I’ve got my strength back. If anybody asked me to recommend a place to rehab, I wouldn’t hesitate for a second. The answer: Topeka Center is the place to go!

Resident at Wichita CenterI don’t know how to explain it—I just wasn’t feeling well at all, weak and in pain all the time. Finally, when I took a fall, my family convinced me that I should check into a facility for short-term rehab—take the time to heal and feel better. I’m glad I listened to them, and I’m very happy that we chose Wichita Center. From the moment I entered, everyone was great—they treated me like family. They were also right on top of my medical needs. They ordered an x-ray, and it turned out, when I took my fall I had fractured my hip. The physical and occupational therapists did outstanding work—I felt stronger every day. My family is overjoyed. Not only am I feeling much better, but the staff here was very open—communicating and sharing their plans with me and my family. I’m so pleased with the care I’ve received at Wichita Center. The short-term rehab was such a success, I’ve decided to stay here…for long-term care. Wichita Center is my new home!

Former Patient at Wichita CenterI broke both my femur and patella bones. It was so terrible, I don’t even like to think about it. Aside from the injury itself, the worst thing about it was that I knew that, during my rehabilitation, I would have to be away from my family. But the team at Wichita Center was a godsend. Everyone, from the nurses to the therapists, from the housekeeping staff to the kitchen crew, were absolute angels. Not only did they help me to heal and get stronger, they made me feel special and loved. My bones are back in place, I’m back on my feet, and best of all I’m back with my family. But now I miss my other family—the wonderful people at Wichita Center!

Sister is a resident at Wichita CenterEver since we were very young, my sister and I have always taken care of each other. We come from a very tight-knit family. When she got sick, I mean really sick, I got very worried. I made a promise to her and to myself. That I would get her the very best healthcare available anywhere in Kansas! The question was where? The answer was Wichita Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. The staff was so friendly, helpful and respectful. And the rehab equipment was amazing! Really high-tech. My sister particularly benefitted from the Jintronix biofeedback system: it put no stress on her, but gave the therapists a chance to start her rehab program on day one. And she’s been improving ever since. I’m not worried about my sister anymore. She is getting better every day. And that’s all because of how much her family cared for her. Her second family that is: the fantastic team at Wichita Center!

Sister is a resident at Wichita CenterI had pneumonia and I had stents put in my heart that went up through my leg which made me weak. Every time I tried to walk, I would fall and that’s why I went to the hospital. When I was discharged, I was still in bad shape. Fortunately, I was admitted to Wichita Center for my rehab. The staff was compassionate and very helpful. The therapists were always kind and compassionate, making sure I had all the care I needed. I was getting better, which made my family very happy. I’ve already recommended Wichita Center to a friend in need of rehab. The team didn’t give up on me and got me going. My leg is much stronger now, and I can walk on my own again.

Patient at Wichita CenterWhen I was admitted to Wichita Center, I could hardly breathe. I was suffering from respiratory failure, and in addition to my trouble breathing, I was extremely tired, my blood pressure was very low, and I was experiencing periods of confusion. The team at Wichita Center was fantastic. They created an action plan for me and had me in therapy within 24 hours of my arrival. I was struck not only by their professionalism, but by what good people they all are. They weren’t just doing a job, they really cared about me and getting me stronger. Thanks to the folks at Wichita Center, the oxygen is flowing smoothly through my lungs and into my bloodstream. Thanks for taking care of me, and giving me my breath back!

Patient at Wichita CenterI was going through a difficult time. I had a stroke and spent time in the hospital in the ICU. They finally discharged me—but I was unable to walk. I felt so helpless and hopeless. Getting admitted to Wichita Center was a godsend. Not only did the team design a program—specifically for me—to regain my balance and strength, they were all so kind and compassionate. I could tell that they really cared about me, and they were as pleased as I was when I started to improve. The Wichita Center team did more than help me walk again, they changed my whole outlook on life. They made me feel good and happy. If you’re looking for a place to rehab, go to Wichita Center. You won’t regret it!

Son was a resident at Wichita CenterMy son means the world to me, and when he had a stroke, my heart sank. He is so young! The hospital was great, they probably saved his life, but when he got out, he still had to learn how to walk and talk all over again. He had done that once when he was two years old, but this time he’d need a lot more help. That’s where Wichita Center came in. I can’t say enough about the therapists there. Professional. Highly skilled. Enthusiastic. All that and more. My son is a fighter, and they challenged him every day, every step of the way. They set realistic, reachable goals for him—all based on his individualized needs—and he fought like heck to reach them. One more thing I want to add. As his father, I always felt as though I was part of the team. The staff—from the receptionist to the therapists and the administrator—are all great communicators. They always shared with me, and with my son, their rehab plan for him. Now, I’d like to do a little communicating myself: Thank you Wichita Center for getting my son back on his feet, back home, and back to independent living!
